Apex Clean Energy Holdings, LLC completed a 383 MW utility-scale wind energy project in 2020. It is one of the largest renewable energy projects ever built in Michigan.
The project boundary includes 56,000-acres and traverses seven townships and two counties. ECT conducted all environmental support for the project, successfully navigating Apex through a complex permitting process that required detailed design and engineering siting plans, hydrologic calculations, and coordination of agency comments. Three permits were attained from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE).
ECT continues to provide wetland and stream delineations and ecological permitting through EGLE.
Additional services ECT provided include:
In May 2021, Apex announced the sale of the project to DTE Energy, becoming the largest renewable asset in DTE’s portfolio powering 121,450 homes each year.
