Renewable Energy Comes to North Carolina

Stanly Solar is currently under construction in Stanly County, North Carolina. Once operational, the project is expected to generate up to 70 MW of renewable energy – enough clean energy to power 15,500 homes annually through a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) that was awarded in the Competitive Procurement of Renewable Energy (CPRE) program with Duke Energy Carolinas.

ECT provided renewable energy due diligence to support developing the proposed 70 MW project. ECT also was responsible for:

• Critical Issues Analysis and permit matrix
• Wetland and stream delineations
• Threatened and endangered species habitat and listed plant species surveys
• Wildlife agency coordination
• Phase I environmental site assessment
• Cultural studies
• Siting
• State and federal permitting services

The solar energy project was developed by NARENCO and is now owned by Pine Gate Renewables.
