McIntosh Solar Energy Project

Lakeland, Florida

The City of Lakeland asked ECT to provide environmental due diligence services to support their growing energy needs. The McIntosh Solar Energy Center will include additional solar panels, a substation, supporting roadways and stormwater facilities.

ECT is conducting the following threatened and endangered species tasks:

  • Conducting surveys of American Kestrels during the breeding season to determine if kestrels are using the site for foraging and nesting
  • 100% Gopher Tortoise (Gopherus polyphemus) Survey of the suitable habitat to determine the current tortoise population
  • Prepare findings regarding two historic eagle nests located either on or adjacent to the site

ECT is also preparing a Phase I Cultural Resource Field Survey Report to document any previously recorded and potentially unrecorded historic resources and archaeological sites within and immediately adjacent to the Area of Potential Effects (APE). The project team is conducting a tree survey to locate all trees on the project site that are regulated by the City of Lakeland.
