On ECT’s Board since 2020, Mr. Sokolow has more than 45 years of experience in business operations of high tech, engineering, and environmental firms.
Until his retirement this past December 2019, he was the Chief Financial Officer for 18 years at Psomas, an 800-person, multidiscipline, employee-owned A/E/C firm headquartered in Los Angeles, CA. While at Psomas, Mr. Sokolow was involved in nearly a dozen acquisitions, and led valuations, due diligence, and integration of the acquired firms. Mr. Sokolow also managed Psomas’ employee stock ownership plan (ESOP), including conducting annual educational forums and training for all employees.
Mr. Sokolow has been a director of Mulkey Engineers (Raleigh, NC) and Hart Crowser, an Environmental/Geotech firm headquartered in Seattle, WA, where he also chaired their Audit & Finance Committee. He also serves as a board advisor to HELIX Environmental Planning, Inc., an environmental consulting and natural resource sustainability firm located in San Diego, CA. Mr. Sokolow is also a Senior Advisor to Environmental Finance Consulting Group (EFCG).
Mr. Sokolow co-chaired the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC)’s Finance Forum for twelve years, until his retirement from Psomas. In September 2019, Mr. Sokolow was presented with the ACEC’s “Distinguished Service Award”. Mr. Sokolow was also awarded the Los Angeles Business Journal’s CFO of the Year “Lifetime Achievement Award” in September 2019.
Mr. Sokolow continues to be a featured speaker and panelist at EFCG, ACEC, and ESOP conferences.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and political science from UCLA, and a Master of Business Administration from San Diego State University.
Mr. Sokolow and his wife, Rhonda, live in Encino, California, where they raised their two now-adult children. He is an avid skier and a longtime Dodgers season ticket holder.
