Working for the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) and Pasco County, ECT assisted with the New River/Upper Hillsborough River watershed management plan (WMP) update as part of a watershed evaluation, modeling, and planning contract. The New River/Upper Hillsborough River Watershed is approximately 121 square miles in southern Pasco County and northern Hillsborough County, Florida.
Work involved revising the existing ICPR model to include peer review comments and adjacent watershed inflows. Efforts included model modifications to sub-basins and structures within Hillsborough County, which were obtained from the Hillsborough River HCSWMM watershed model. ECT developed floodplain delineations and limits based on the revised model output.
A revised level of service (LOS) analysis was conducted to identify critical flood-prone locations within the watershed. ECT developed alternative best management practices (BMPs), quantities and cost estimates to reduce flooding conditions within the watershed. Staff also updated the WMP report, figures, and geographic information system (GIS) GWIS geodatabase.
