As part of a state comprehensive land use planning requirement, the City of Milwaukee engaged in a multi- year effort to prepare thirteen neighborhood plans and a unified policy framework for creating a sound and sustainable future for the City of Milwaukee. In 2009, the City asked ECT to produce the Milwaukee Citywide Policy Plan. The policy plan establishes values and trajectories for the continued improvement and development of the City to maximize the environmental, economic, social, and quality of life. The policy plan is based on four core principles grounded in the need for the City of Milwaukee to consider development choices with respect to the relationship between and impact on the economy, environment, and equity of the community, while allowing for full citizen engagement in the process to determine the future of the City.
